American Cinema: Film Analyses

During my final undergrad semester at Asbury University, I took a course on American Cinema, where I was able to watch many American films (most of which I had seen before) and analyze them with a new, deeper knowledge of filmmaking. In the analyses I wrote on them, I explore how many different techniques used in the films influenced those following them. You can read some of these analyses below!

German-American Expressionism: An Analysis of “Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans”

Slower With Age: An Analysis of “Citizen Kane”

Shown, Not Told: An Analysis of “The Searchers”

Atmosphere: An Analysis of “2001: A Space Odyssey”

Something to Confess: An Analysis of “There Will Be Blood”

A Musical Correlation: An Analysis of the Use of the Works of Pietro Mascagni in the Motion Picture “Raging Bull”
